Halesworth and Bouchain became twinned in 1982. Bouchain was already twinned with Eitorf in Germany, and to celebrate the 20 year anniversary of the French/German twinning, Halesworth also twinned with Eitorf in 1994 - forming a twinning triangle!

Regular exchanges have taken place over the years, including the fire brigade, cricket club, Army Cadets, school visits, and choirs, including Wenhaston Choir and Halesworth School Choir.


A particular highlight was the 1992 Three Town Music Festival, involving the Schubert Choir from Eitorf, Un Seul Coeur (With One Heart) Bouchain Choir and Bouchain Harmonie (Town Band).

A large red reminder of Halesworth, to the citizens of Bouchain, is the telephone box Halesworth presented to the town. (see right)
